‘I WANT ONE KELL OF A PAYDAY’

BROOK v DELUCA, SATURDAY FORMULA ONE CHINESE GRAND PRIX

- BY DAVID ANDERSON BY TONY JIMENEZ BY MATT MALTBY

KELL BROOK claims he is up for a lucrative Battle of Britain with former WBO champion Liam Smith.

Brook, 33, makes his comeback after 14 months out against ex-US marine Mark DeLuca at Sheffield’s FlyDSA Arena on Saturday – and he wants a big name like Smith next.

The former IBF welterweight king plans to campaign mainly at lightmiddleweight, where Smith reigned as WBO title holder between 2015 and 2016. The pair are both promoted by Matchroom and Brook (right) said: “I expect DeLuca to be as fit as hell. But I’m interested in any light-middleweight. Even if they have a belt and they’re hardest in the division, I can beat all of them.

“Liam Smith hasn’t got a belt, but I can get excited about that fight.

“If they pay me seven figures for the fight, I’ll take that fight.”

SHANGHAI RACE FEAR

THE Chinese Grand Prix is at risk of being cancelled as a result of the deadly coronavirus outbreak.

The Shanghai International Circuit is due to host the fourth round of a record-breaking 22-race season on April 19.

But the Shanghai authorities want all sports events cancelled until the epidemic is over.

Talks were held by F1 bosses yesterday, and it looks likely that this year’s race will be scrapped.

Organisers wanted to move the race to September, but Russia has refused to swap dates.

“The September 27 date for the Russian GP isn’t changing,” warned a Russian official.

China yesterday reported that as many as 25,000 people have been infected with the virus, with a death toll of nearly 500.
