‘Middle-aged British man’ isolated after Brighton A&E visit

BRITAIN’S third confirmed victim of coronavirus did not travel from China.
Last night the patient was reported to be a middle-aged British man who may have caught the virus in Singapore.
He is said to have tested positive after going to A&E in Brighton. The man was isolated and taken to a unit in London.
The UK’s two previous victims fell ill in York last week after travelling from China. They are in isolation in Newcastle.
Yesterday a video emerged of paramedics in hazmat suits taking a person from student flats in York, before the other two people in the city were diagnosed.

Ronnie shows Alice hula-hooping said: “A further patient has tested positive, bringing the number of UK cases to three.
“The individual did not acquire this in the UK and is being transferred to a specialist NHS centre.”
London’s infectious disease units are at Guy’s and St Thomas’ and the Royal Free.
Brighton-based Sussex University said the new victim was not from there.
The global death toll increased to 565 yesterday with cases rising to 28,273 – 260 outside China. The Chinese ambassador in London warned against “rumours and panic” after concerns that Boris Johnson has not offered a message of support.
He said he UK should “support China’s efforts, avoid overreaction, avoid creating panic and ensure normal co-operation”.
More than 80 Brits flown from virus epicentre Wuhan and quarantined on the Wirral have been told they can leave next Thursday if they stay free of symptoms.
Meanwhile, 10 more people on the Diamond Princess cruise ship quarantined in Yokohama, Japan, have tested positive, bringing the total to 20. There are 78 Brits among the 3,700 on board.
