Film star Hugh’s video supporting bullied lad

WE are borrowing more from our parents than ever, according to research.

The average amount people borrow from Mum and Dad has risen from £2,469 to £5,914 in the past year, adding up to £281billion nationally.

Some 63% turn to family to borrow cash, often for new cars or home deposits.

Mums are most likely to be the lender, research by MoneySuper­Market found.

ADORED Quaden and mum Yarraka

HOLLYWOOD star Hugh Jackman is among the celebs who have rallied round a lad being bullied over his dwarfism.

Quaden Bayles, nine, received support after his mum shared a video of him crying and saying: “I just want to die right now.”

X-Men actor Hugh, 51, said in a video message: “Quaden, you’re stronger than you know. You’ve got a friend in me.”

The Australian added: “So, everyone, let’s please be kind to each other. Bullying is not OK.”

US comedian Brad Williams, 36, who also has dwarfism, created a GoFundMe page, urging people to donate to pay for him to go to the US to visit Disneyland.

The video of Quaden, from Queensland, Australia, shows him distraught after being teased at school. His mum Yarraka said in the footage: “This is the impact bullying has on a nine-year-old that just wants to go to school, get an education and have fun.” She went on to explain she had to “constantly keep an eye on him”. FRIEND Hugh Jackman went viral and led to messages flooding in. One of the online supporters, Stephen Leppard, said that it reminded him of being bullied at school.

In a video message, he added: “I know there are thousands of people around the world who are wishing you well.”

He also said Quaden’s story should encourage parents and schools to change the stigma surroundin­g dwarfism.
