WHAT patient viewers we are! It’s been two-and-a-half years since cameras panned to a very dead Andrew Earlham lying in the marshes, then left us hanging.
Having been finally revealed as a serial rapist who kept footage of all his crimes locked in a shed, we saw Earlham with his throat slit.
But who killed him?
Ioan Gruffudd and Joanne Froggatt return for this second series which gives us this new whodunnit to keep us all guessing.
A gripping opening episode sends us straight back to that scene and then uses flashbacks to piece together the clues.
Scenes follow what happened after damning evidence was found by his victim Laura Nielson (Froggatt) against Earlham (Gruffudd). He goes on the run, sparking a police manhunt.
But fast-forward to the discovery of his body and the brilliant, ballbusting copper DI Karen Renton, played by Katherine Kelly, is suspicious of Laura.
Of course Laura can’t help but feel relieved by the news of his death.
And sure, there was that tiny incident where she drugged and kidnapped Earlham. But would she murder him?
And what about his other victims, not to mention all their friends and family who were deeply affected by his actions?
Needless to say, there are plenty of people out there with motive to see Earlham’s demise.
But it’s Laura who finds herself drawn back into a fight for the truth. Who to believe?
