World I’ll never Miss...

-

Great to see the movie Misbehaviour earlier this week, starring Keira Knightley, Jessie Buckley et al and featuring the famous plot by a group of young women to disrupt the 1970 Miss World competition.

At the time I was an angry little nine-year-old, resenting the fact my younger brother got treated with more respect than I did.

He often sat watching telly while I was called off into the kitchen to help my mum and instructed to take a cup of tea and a snack into my dad and brother while they watched telly! Grrrrrrr…

No wonder I was permanently

SEE Women’s angry. I dreamt of one day becoming Miss World, so I could show them all I was better than that.

Thankfully I did go on to show them without having to parade around in a swimsuit in front of a group of male judges and a worldwide TV audience.

Go see the movie and see just how far we’ve come.

Before the panic button was pushed, the last time I’d heard of Corona was when it was a muchloved 1960s’ fizzy drink delivered to your door on a big truck.

Sadly the corona we’re all familiar with now is a deadly virus and the best fight we can put up against it is to make sure we wash our hands and sanitise surfaces. The only people gaining from the mass feeling of vulnerability are mask manufacturers, the emperor’s new clothes of the medical world. Masks are NOT effective against respiratory illnesses such as flu and COVID-19. If it were we’d all be advised to wear one. There are human parasites out there, ever willing to cash in on a crisis, selling masks for massively hiked prices.

Don’t waste your money. Do wash your hands. And keep surfaces clean. It’s the best we can do.

I’m sorry, but even though they themselves have found that it was the correct thing to do, I have no truck with the Crown Prosecution Service’s decision to prosecute Caroline Flack for allegedly attacking her boyfriend Lewis Burton, when he, himself, said he ‘never supported’ a conviction. There was no need for a review, then, because we all suspect she was charged because she was a trophy catch. That really does stink to high heaven. And, for her loved ones, makes Caroline’s passing all the more hard to bear.
