Our history has been forged by us coming together as one
Queen’s inspirational rallying message to the nation
THE Queen last night issued a rallying cry over the worsening coronavirus outbreak, hailing those fighting on the front line.
And she urged Brits to help the vulnerable in these times of “great uncertainty”.
As the death toll rose to 144, the monarch – who is now in isolation with Prince Philip
– said: “Our nation’s history has been forged by people and communities coming
together to work as one, concentrating our combined efforts with a focus on the common goal.
“We are enormously thankful for the expertise and commitment of our scientists, medical practitioners and emergency and public services, but now more than any time in our recent past, we all have a vitally important part to play as individuals. Many of us will need to find new ways of staying in touch with each other and making sure loved ones are safe. “I am certain we are up to that challenge. You can be assured that my family and I stand ready to play our part.”
RISK
The Queen was yesterday taken from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle as a “sensible precaution”. She was joined by 98-year-old husband Prince Philip, who was flown from the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk. They brought forward their Easter plans by a week with aides confirming the couple, who are in the Covid-19 high risk age group, will isolate for a considerable time. Prince Charles, 71, and Camilla, 72, cancelled their spring tour to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus and Jordan and have gone into isolation at their Highgrove estate in Gloucestershire. On March 10, Charles met in London with Prince Albert of Monaco, who has since tested positive for coronavirus. Royal sources insisted the Duke of Cornwall is fit. It was last night not known whether Charles has been tested for coronavirus.
