Great cannabis oil fake-off

Mary’s fury as scammers steal her image to flog ‘overpriced’ face cream

MARY Berry is furious after rogue traders refused to stop selling cannabis oil products using her name and image, despite pleas.

The former Bake Off cook said she was “appalled” to be associated with the extract when adverts first appeared on Facebook last month.

They were being flogged at rip-off prices of up to £200 amid claims they helped Mary stay fit.

But despite attempts by her lawyers to get them taken down they have still been spotted on the site. A new message on the 84-year-old’s website says: “Mary has been upset to learn companies are still using her image to advertise products like skin cream without permission.

“Please be aware these are not genuine endorsements and Mary is not affiliated with the sellers. We’d advise people not to click on the links or buy these products, and report them to Facebook.”

CBD is a natural compound found in cannabis and hemp, which is not responsible for causing a high.

It is used for positive health benefits such as treating anxiety and depression.

But ads for one company promised would-be users it would “prevent or alleviate all health problems”, claiming it was what kept Mary in such good nick.

In an urgent message posted last month, her advisers wrote: “We’d like to thank all of Mary’s supporters who have got in touch with us to make us aware of these dishonest adverts, and we extend our sympathies to anyone that has been adversely affected by these companies.

“Our lawyers are working to get these adverts removed.”
