Fuel cheapest for 10 years..
A LOCAL petrol station has caught the supermarkets off guard by becoming the first to slash fuel to under £1 a litre.
It is the first time in more than 10 years the cost of unleaded has been 99.7p.
Birmingham’s Murco garage on the A435 slashed pump prices as figures from the AA revealed the UK average for unleaded was 118p a litre.
Out of the major supermarkets, Asda has the cheapest, at 102p.
Luke Bosdet, of the AA, said: “We expect other retailers to follow soon.”
But he urged motorists to heed the “essential travel only” advice.
