Hateful attitude of rich bosses
■ Wetherspoons and Sports Direct bosses Tim Martin and Mike Ashley truly represent the ugly side of today’s Britain. Their inhumane treatment of their loyal staff, who suffer long hours for such low pay, is inexcusable. Wetherspoons’ staff have been paid for their last shifts until the Government aid scheme kicks in. Cheers, Tim.
When coronavirus is firmly under control, let’s hope the public will never forget the unnecessary and greedy behaviour of multimillionaires Martin and Ashley, and hit them where it will hurt them most – in their pockets.

■ What an absolutely shocking attitude from Mike Ashley and Tim Martin. They should be ashamed but they’re too pig-headed for that.
Then, by contrast, we see the amazing response from the half a million Brits who have volunteered to help the NHS in its hour of need. Why people give these two their money I will never understand. Anne Moorehead, Southampton
■ So, Wetherspoons boss Tim Martin has told his staff who are facing unemployment to go and work in Tesco. When this worrying time has past we should all go get our booze from the supermarket instead of going into his pubs.
It’s illuminating to see how some of these unscrupulous bosses are treating their ‘valued’ staff during these days, weeks and possibly months of uncertainty.

■ The 500,000 volunteers who have offered to help during the current crisis are amazing and we can never thank them enough. Then we witness Mr Ashley and Mr Martin whose attitude is a disgrace while most people are doing their utmost to help the situation.
I hope people will never visit their establishments again.

■ What a despicable man Tim Martin is to treat his staff so badly during this crisis. If it wasn’t for his loyal workers he wouldn’t have made his vast fortune. It would serve him right if no one came forward to work for him when this is all over. Susan Moon

■ My partner is a manager who works for Wetherspoons and they are not paying their staff a full month’s pay. She tried to go to the staff website and no information was available – not even the contract terms.
Something has to be done about this. I will never go into a Wetherspoons pub again and hopefully others will now boycott them too.

■ It appears Tim Martin and Mike Ashley are cut from the same cloth.
All they are concerned about is their profits at the end of the day. I hope their workers do find other jobs and never go back to work for them.
