Harry & Meg eye move to Pacific beachfront
PRINCE Harry and wife Meghan are home-hunting in the same Los Angeles area his mum Princess Diana had planned to settle in the months before her tragic death.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been eyeing properties in Malibu, Pacific Palisades and the Pacific Coast Highway corridor valued at £15million for more than 18 months.
And they are said to be smitten with Petra Manor in Malibu – a sprawling Italianesque pad with a pool and tennis court.
Their targets are all near A-list communities and in driving distance of the biggest Hollywood studios as Meghan, who grew up in LA, reboots her acting career. Neighbours would include Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Cher, Paris Hilton and Mel Gibson.
Pals say while Harry, 35, and Meghan, 38, are renting in Bel Air, they are seeking a house “which will be home”. A source said: “They have been looking at residences in that stretch of the city. “There is at least one very high-profile estate agent who has been home-spotting for them. Meghan has made it no secret to those in her life from even before meeting Harry she hoped to live on the beach eventually. Now, with her freedom, money from Suits,
her husband’s fortune and obvious future earning potential, splashing as much as £16million is achievable.”
Princess Diana was planning a move to Malibu with Harry and brother William in 1997 for greater privacy. Her boyfriend, Dodi Fayed, bought a beachfront mansion months before they died in a car crash in Paris in August that year.
The Sussexes, who yesterday dropped their HRH titles after leaving royal life, have been mulling a move close to a beach as they seek a more private life with son Archie, 10 months.
The Malibu region was special to Meghan in her childhood and her family claim she always wanted to “return home and raise her family there”. She would hang out with friends at its beaches, malls, parks and stores, within an hour’s drive of her Woodland Hills home. And parents Thomas and Doria would take her to Will Rogers State Beach for picnics.
Diana’s mansion with Dodi was in Malibu’s Paradise Cove. Their LA dream was confirmed by actor Cas Anvar, who played Dodi in 2013 film Diana.
He said: “I spoke to many of his friends and they wanted to live in America.”
