BARRY GIVES BACKING TO ‘CLASS’ JACK

JACK GREALISH has been given the thumbs up to impress in Project Restart by former Premier League title winner Gareth Barry.

Former Villan Barry was back at Villa Park on Saturday for a friendly with his current team West Brom.

The game finished 2-2 with Grealish and Keinan Davis netting for Villa, and Kamil Grosicki and Filip Krovinovic on target for the Baggies.

Barry, 39, quit

Villa for

Manchester City in

2009 where he won the FA Cup and league title.

And it is understood Barry told Grealish after Saturday’s friendly clash that he was “class” and had scored a great goal.

Manchester United-target Grealish, 24, will hope to lift Villa to top-flight safety, starting against Sheffield United at Villa Park on June 17.

JADON SANCHO has been advised to “grow up” by team-mate Emre Can after copping a fine for breaking lockdown rules to get his hair cut.

The Chelsea and Manchester United target (above) reacted badly to the punishment, tweeting the decision was an “absolute joke!”.

But neither Sancho nor his hairdresser were wearing protective equipment, a breach of Germany’s strict coronavirus restrictions.

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Can said: “Jadon is a great boy but he has to be a bit smarter about these things. He needs to grow up. He can’t afford to make mistakes like that.

“And we as a team are also responsible. We know he has to be more disciplined in some things, but he knows that too.

“I don’t think he does it to create a scandal. Maybe he trusts too many people in some things. He needs people to guide him. That’s where the environment is important.”

IT began with a seismic shock straight out of Africa, announcing an entire continent as a football power to be taken seriously, not a novelty circus act.

By the time Paul Gascoigne had distributed his gardensprinkler tears across in Turin, England had fallen in love with football again. We all sung Nessun
