Officers ‘shared photo of the bodies’
TWO police officers have been held after a photo of two sisters killed in a city park was allegedly taken at the scene and shared with others.
They reportedly face claims an “inappropriate” photo was sent to a group of people including members of the public.
The unnamed officers were arrested on Monday by detectives from Scotland Yard’s professional standards team.
The pair have been suspended from duty with the Met while the Independent Office for Police Conduct investigates.
Nicole Smallman, 27, and Bibaa Henry, 46, were repeatedly stabbed by a stranger who stalked them in the early hours of Saturday June 6 in Fryent Country Park in Wembley, North West London, where they had been celebrating Bibaa’s birthday with friends.
The IOPC were already investigating how police responded to reports the women were missing after they failed to return home. Their bodies were discovered by a member of the public on Sunday, June 7.
Met Commander Paul Brogden said he was “horrified and disgusted” at the latest claims, and said the victims’ parents have been informed.
He added: “I’d like to sincerely apologise to them for this further burden.”
The sisters were found next to each other in a wooded area. A knife thought to be the murder weapon has been recovered as have the victims’ phones.
The killer left a trail of blood after
SCENE Park where murdered sisters were found being seriously injured as the sisters fought for their lives. Samples have allowed police to rule out those known to the pair. The suspect’s DNA does not appear to have been matched to any on the national database.
IOPC director for London, Sal Naseem, said of the latest claims: “These are sickening allegations and when we were made aware by the Met Police we acted quickly to arrest the officers involved in order to seize vital evidence.
“The victims’ family are naturally extremely distressed at this turn of events and we are ensuring that they are updated as our investigation is progressing.”
