KLOPP WARNS FANS: NO SUMMER SPREE

JURGEN KLOPP has once again warned Liverpool fans not to expect any bigname signings in the transfer window.

After their European ban was overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, Manchester City are expected to freshen up their squad, Chelsea have splashed out £80million on Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech while Manchester United continue to be linked with an expensive deal for Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.

But Klopp does not think the champions will be spending heavily, explaining: “To strengthen the squad you need money and these are uncertain times.

“Obviously, uncertain times means for some clubs we cannot do what we would do

in non-uncertain times. Ask me can we develop the squad and it is probably possible – but only with real money.

“But buying now? Just go out and there and name whoever you want, whatever the player is, go for it? That is really difficult.

“It was always difficult. We did not invest a lot in the squad last year and that was before Covid-19.

“If we have money, we will spend. If we do not know if we will have money, we probably will not spend that much.

“That is how it is. That is how the club has been led since before I was here.”

Klopp’s side travel to Arsenal tonight, knowing they need three wins from their remaining three games to beat Manchester City’s Premier League points record of 100 points.

And even though he trails

Jamie Vardy by four goals, Mohamed Salah will still have one eye on the Golden Boot.

Salah will be making his 150th Liverpool appearance, a figure that amazed Klopp. The Liverpool manager (below) said: “That is 50 games a season – that is unbelievable.

“The front three has worked out in a manner we could not have expected.

“When Mo signed, it was a good day for Liverpool and a good day for him.

“I remember our talk when we first met face to face and spoke about his favourite position on the right. He said Mane plays there but I told him Sadio (both above) could play on the left too.

“Now, they have scored 250 goals between them so it has worked out well. You cannot change the world alone but together, you can.”
