Blind Amar’s triumph on MasterChef

AMAR Latif hopes to inspire other blind people after making it through the first round of Celebrity MasterChef yesterday.

The TV travel presenter wowed judges Gregg Wallace and John Torode with a “fabulous, fantastic” seabass on noodle salad.

Amar, 45, told the Mirror: “You can turn your hand to anything if you really put your mind to it.

“I’m hoping that blind people can be inspired to not let their blindness send them down a spiral.”

He trained for two weeks, and said: “Having to come up with ways I can cook took a lot of work,”

He beat TV host Jeff Brazier, who became the first to leave the contest.

MasterChef continues on BBC1 tonight at 8pm.
