999 assaults ‘2 strike’ call
CRIMINALS who attack emergency workers more than once should face a guaranteed jail term, a senior police officer has said.
The Government is consulting on doubling the maximum penalty for assaulting an emergency worker to two years.
Met Deputy Commissioner Sir Stephen House told the London Assembly he favours a “two strike” policy, adding: “Then there is an automatic prison sentence... a decent one to discourage people.”
