ROMANTIC Dan and Amber

A ROMEO proposed to his girlfriend using a sky banner when the Covid crisis foiled his plan to pop the question in Venice.

Romantic Dan Smyth hired a plane to help him ask for Amber Dewick’s hand in marriage after their trip was cancelled over travel restrictions.

Mechanic Dan got down on one knee with a ring on the Essex coast as the plane towed the words: “Amber will you marry me?”

Amber, a midwife, said: “I’d told him if he ever asked in public to marry me I’d say no and run away.

“He couldn’t have got any more public than next to the pier at Walton.

“Apparently I cried and took 10 minutes to say yes.”

The couple, both 29, of Harwich, aim to move house before the wedding.
