I lose out as a singleton
■ Now that the door for staycations has been opened, I decided to look for a holiday.
I’m a single pensioner with disabilities, and decided a selfcatering caravan or chalet holiday would fit the bill.
I started ringing around but, boy, was I in for a shock! A four-berth caravan in September was just shy of £500 for a week, whether there was one person or four.
Single, elderly and/or disabled folk find themselves priced out of a holiday.

■ I regularly read and enjoy Brian Reade’s column and share a good many of his opinions. But I was surprised he would single out Bristol as a slave-trade city when his home city Liverpool was also instrumental, if not more so, in this barbaric trade (July 11).
Bristol’s shame must be Liverpool’s too. And this is from someone who’s not in the least bit sorry to see the Edward Colston statue gone. Dave Beard, Bristol
We are all hoping the panto season won’t be cancelled due to Covid-19. If it is, our alternative is to watch the Tory Government show.
We have the PM as the Great Dame, Cummings as the villain and the Cabinet as the Munchkins. It’s the worst panto I’ve ever seen. In fact, I just want to shout: “Get off!”

■ Congratulations to Mirror readers Liz and Ted Davies who celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary today.
