SIR KENNY’S GONG SHOW

-

LIVERPOOL will add a personal touch to their title celebrations after getting Premier League approval for Kenny Dalglish to hand out the medals.

The ceremony will come after the match against Chelsea at Anfield next Wednesday, the Reds last home game of the season And they want it to be as special as possible despite the absence of fans. For that reason, the club asked for approval for their legendary former player and manager (above) to hand out the medals to the entire squad, before skipper Jordan Henderson lifts the trophy. Boss Jurgen Klopp sees it as adding a human touch to the presentation in an empty stadium. Dalglish won six titles as a player with Liverpool, including one as playerboss, and two more as their manager. The Premier League were happy for the Scottish icon to perform the ceremony, but the trophy itself is taken from a plinth by the captain. Henderson will perform that role, even though he is ruled out for the season, with Klopp assuring fans that the skipper will be “there in a kit, to lift the trophy”.
