Norwich are the third team in top-flight history to lose five consecutive home games without scoring a single goal, after Sheffield Wednesday (April 1920) and Birmingham City (February 1922).

Since the restart last month, only Manchester City (18) and Manchester United (17) have earned more Premier League points than Burnley (15 – W4 D3 L1). Burnley extended their unbeaten run in the Premier League to seven games (W4 D3) – only Manchester United are currently on a longer active streak (12). Norwich suffered their 12th home defeat of the Premier League campaign; their jointmost in a league campaign in the club’s history.

Chris Wood has scored 13 goals for Burnley in the Premier League this season; the most by a Clarets player in a single campaign in the competition.

NORWICH are going down with a whimper and they don’t look like they will be back any time soon.

They have been goalless 19 times, including in 11 of their last 13 matches. And this defeat was their fifth straight at home without scoring.

Norwich based their promotion campaign on the goals of striker Teemu Pukki, who hasn’t even registered a shot on target in his last nine top-flight appearances.

Buendia’s red card, for an elbow on Ashley Westwood, was soft. But the game was over when Drmic lunged at Erik Pieters and left his side with nine men, with Wood’s overhead strike (right) and Godfrey’s own goal sealing their doom.

Boss Daniel Farke claims it would take “stupid money” for the club to sell the likes of Max Aarons, Godfrey and Todd Cantwell.

But skipper Tettey fears the vultures will swoop – and is urging the club to respond if there ends up being an exodus.

Tettey said: “First, you need to keep your best players. Second, you need fresh faces that are ready to deliver and have character.

“If you don’t have players with character you will struggle. We have all seen teams come down and be nowhere near it. We need a proper reset.

“If not, then we all know the Championship can be a really tough place to be.”
