AMAZON boss Jeff Bezos has just enjoyed a Prime pay day, by banking £10billion in 24 hours.

The world’s richest man, 56, is now worth an estimated £150billion, eclipsing blue-chip giants such as McDonald’s, Nike and oil firm Exxon.

It comes after profits soared at Amazon amid the explosion in online shopping during the pandemic.

US entrepreneur Bezos has 57 million shares in Amazon, the value of which surged on Monday after a positive Wall Street forecast.

And ex-wife MacKenzie Bezos, who got 19.7 million shares in their divorce, raked in £3.62bn – making her the 13th richest person in the world.

MacKenzie, 50, and Bezos launched Amazon from their Seattle home in 1996, selling

Bill Gates books online. It has now grown to take half of all online retail sales in the US and 40% in Britain. Amazon also owns a major cloud computing platform, which helped its value rise 70% this year to £1.18trillion.

Bezos, now dating TV news anchor Lauren Sanchez, 50, is followed on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index by Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, 64, who is worth an estimated £93bn.

Frenchman Bernard Arnault, 71, chairman of luxury goods firm LVMH, is third on £74.5bn. Britain’s richest man, inventor James Dyson, 73, is worth £16bn. Meanwhile, Tesla boss Elon Musk, 49, got a share bonus payout of £1.65bn after a surge in the electric car maker’s share price.
