Use car dash ‘by gesture’
SCIENTISTS have designed a touchless screen for car dashboards.
The device uses sensors to predict the button that the driver intends to touch through them pointing.
Researchers reckon will make roads safer.
The “predictive touch screen” is being developed by engineers at Cambridge University and car giant Jaguar Land Rover.

NOTED Diana letter and her signature
PRINCESS Diana wondered what her thirties had in store in a letter to a friend six years before her death.
The Princess of Wales sent the fateful note to Dudley Poplak in 1991 to thank him for pictures he had drawn for her 30th birthday. She told him: “I do wonder what the next ten years will bring, the last ten I have learnt a great deal in an interesting way!”
Just one year later Princess Diana stunned the world by announcing her separation from Prince Charles.
Diana’s letter to Poplak, on Kensington Palace-headed notepaper, is being auctioned on July 30 with a separate note by her mother Frances Kydd.
Mimo Connell Lay, of David Lay Auctioneers, said of the letter: “The line where she contemplates the past decade during which she got married, became a mother and her marriage broke down, and what the future holds for her is very poignant.” Diana’s letter is dated June 27, 1991, four days before her 30th birthday, but she confesses she had already opened Poplak’s three “wonderful” drawings.
Just six years later, in August 1997, she died aged 36 alongside new-found love Dodi Fayed in a Paris car crash.
