DYCHE IS IN GLOVE WITH A ‘MONSTER’
BURNLEY keeper Nick Pope is a shot-stopping “monster” who could become the Golden Glove king tomorrow.
Manager Sean Dyche has told his anchorman (above, being congratulated by Jurgen Klopp) to claim a 16th clean sheet of the season, which would guarantee he stays top of the Premier League goalkeeping charts.
He is currently alongside Manchester City’s Ederson on 15 shutouts and Dyche (below) said: “I hope he gets the Golden Glove. When I first saw him I thought, ‘Look at that big monster flying around keeping the ball out’.
“Coming out of a tough season with injury he has got back to where he wants to be.
“He is good around the group, and he respects the team in front of him.
When called upon, he makes big saves.
“He is an all-rounder. His voice is stronger, his organisational skills are better. His decisionmaking is more accurate – when to come for crosses or off his line.
“All these things are important, other than the obvious of stopping the ball going in the net. He’s doing brilliantly and he’s a lovely fella, a brilliant pro.”
Dyche has led Burnley to a top-10 finish and they could end up eighth and ahead of Arsenal. There has been speculation he could leave Turf Moor in the summer for a new challenge, with a squad revamp needed
But Dyche said: “I get on with my work and will do until things change. Things change in football either because you go somewhere or because people have had enough of you and want you out. I work hard, try to do things right and get success in our world.”
Asked about the transfer window, Dyche added: “I’m not shopping at Harrods.”
