RALPH HASENHUTTL does not fear Southampton star Danny Ings being poached by one of the Premier League’s big guns, claiming: “He’s one of our own.”
Ings has enjoyed a stunning season since joining the Saints from Liverpool last summer in an £18million deal.
The Hampshire-born striker, 28, goes into tomorrow’s final-day showdown with Sheffield United still in with an outside chance of winning the Golden Boot if he can add to his 21-goal haul.
Asked if he feared losing his striker this summer, Saints boss Hasenhuttl (above, with Ings) said: “You must ask the big clubs. I don’t know and I don’t want to put him in any windows.
“He is our player and I think he feels very comfortable here. He really likes to play in this team.
“He is a little bit like me, he just worked for a big club and knows how it is there and how it is here. I think he enjoys working with us, playing with us and being one of our own!”

CHRIS WILDER has removed the last cloud over Sheffield United’s golden season by explaining the absence from tomorrow’s finale of record signing Lys Mousset.
The £10million man (right) was a mysterious absentee from the 1-0 defeat by Everton on Monday, with Wilder declining to comment.
But yesterday the Bramall Lane boss explained the full details.
“His girlfriend has just given birth so I made the decision to let him go home, knowing how difficult lockdown has been for all the young leave St Mary’s this summer is former captain Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
The Saints this week accepted a £25m bid from Everton for the Denmark midfielder, but Hojbjerg has his heart set on a move to Spurs, who are also circling.
Hasenhuttl says he will have no hesitation in giving Hojbjerg a farewell appearance against the Blades.
The Austrian added: “It is no problem for me. I never see him being unprofessional, he is focused for the weekend and knows we need him.
“This is the reason he is focused so I have no issues.”
Asked if there was any chance Hojbjerg would stay beyond the end of the season, Hasenhuttl replied: “I don’t know.
“I am not really using a lot of energy on this topic because my only goal is to find the right game plan for the weekend and to prepare my team.
“This is my job and all I have to do. There will be enough time after the game to speak about all the rest. It is not something I really concentrate on.” players,” Wilder said. “It’s not been easy for those boys, so I made that decision and that explains why he doesn’t come back into it.”
Wilder, preparing for a trip to Southampton, said that this campaign will count for nothing when next season kicks off.
“I understand the game and the pitfalls when all of a sudden people get comfortable and get their carpet slippers on,” he said. “I have plenty of people around me that will make sure I don’t get arrogant.
“I know how you get hit in the face if you take your eye off the ball.”
