ADD NEWS FOR IRONS

- BY DARREN LEWIS by Darren Lewis

DAVID MOYES believes he has set a “better standard” for West Ham and is confident of adding to it over the summer.

The Scot is targeting reinforcements for the Irons in midfield and up front, and will sell to buy in the close season.

Moyes said: “We’ve set better standards. Some of the young players have really shown what they are capable of.

“We are looking forward to how good they can become and the future ahead with them.

“We have got five or six really talented boys around the team and some experienced players as well, so I am looking forward to seeing how they go.”

Moyes has now kept the club in the Premier League twice, having preceded flop Manuel Pellegrini, who was heavily backed in the transfer market.

The Scot added: “You have got to remember the club spent £200million up to last summer. We’ll try and get the best out of the players and, if we can add to it, we will do.

“We didn’t play as well today as we have done, but it was always going to be a tight game. Thank goodness our players took us to a situation where we didn’t need to consider today’s game as much as we might have done.

“They have done well. Their performances against Chelsea here, getting a point at Manchester United. I have only praise for them.” mirror.co.uk sport football
