Hours after Biden’s announcement, Trump fired off his first salvo.
He said Harris has been “nasty” to her new boss. Trump’s campaign sent out a statement claiming she once “called Joe Biden a racist and asked for an apology she never received” adding: “Phoney Kamala will abandon her own morals.” he has never been picked out by Trump for a particularly savage Twitter attack. Is he wary? Harris said: “What I know is this. I know he has a reason to be afraid of me.”
Her dad Donald Harris is Jamaican and her mum Shyamala Gopalan Harris is Indian. Their daughter said she went into law enforcement to change the system from the inside. As a young prosecutor she dated California politician Willie Brown, who was 60 at the time – four years older than her dad.

As an enforcer,
Harris was accused by some of being excessively harsh, and as a reformer she was said to be too slow.
In the Senate she has presented herself as a civil rights leader and a criminal justice reformer.
She will provide Biden, who she once openly attacked during a Democratic debate, with much needed diversity.
Biden, who turns 78 shortly after the election on November 3, would become the oldest ever President if he wins.
Harris is strong on a host of liberal issues including reforming gun laws.
And in this summer of tear gas and turmoil, she has emerged as a loud voice on issues of police misconduct that seem certain to be central to the campaign.
Biden/Harris is similar to the ticket when Obama/Biden won in 2008. There is an older white man with huge foreign policy experience, and a younger, black running mate with immigrant roots who has been in the Senate for only four years.
Many hope it is still a winning formula.
