Rollerskater knifeman’s street spree
‘Vigilante with rifle shoots people protesting in street’
SCENE Police in Bristol
A ONE-ARMED knifeman on rollerskates stabbed three men in a daytime rampage, a court heard.
Benjamin Bridgeman, 38, moved “like Torvill and Dean” as he dodged bids by members of the public to stop his city-centre attack.
Witnesses tried to fell him with a van and road signs before police tasered him in Knowle, Bristol.
Bridgeman denies charges including attempted murder.
Experts say he suffered a “disease of the mind”, and a jury at the city’s crown court must decide if he knew what he was doing or that it was wrong.
The prosecution has said Bridgeman, of Bristol, was employed and of good character but had suffered a psychotic breakdown.
The trial continues.
