ALE AND HEARTY

Trouble brewing for Williams star’s rivals on soft ground

-

ALEMARATALYOUM (nap) should be the name on everybody’s lips in the Brian Chattaway Ladbrokes Handicap (2.25) at Goodwood this afternoon.

Stuart Williams’ son of Lope De Vega has drawn a blank in eight starts since sluicing to a four-length victory over a mile on heavy ground on the South Downs last September.

But the barren spell has seen the six-yearold fall down the handicap. Competing from handicap mark of

91, Williams’ (right) ace is just 1lb higher than for his success last autumn.

The step back to seven furlongs should prove no problem for Rossa Ryan’s mount, for whom plenty of give underfoot is a definite plus in his bid to get back on track.

After an impressive debut at POMELO Newbury last month, should cope with a step up in class for the Group 3 Ladbrokes Prestige Stakes (1.50).

Her bloodline promises much as Pomelo is a daughter of Dubawi and Emulous, who scored at the highest level when lifting the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown nine years ago.

And the way she lengthened away to score by five lengths from Dreams Unwind first time out suggests the Ralph Beckett trainee will blossom further. CABALETTA

was no match for Enbihaar at Glorious Goodwood but she makes the most appeal of the quartet to contest the Group 3 Ladbrokes March Stakes (3.00). FOX At Windsor, CHAIRMAN,

who was second to Aspetar in the Group 2 York Stakes five weeks ago, should make the most of an ease in grade for the Group 3 Gallagher Group Winter Hill Stakes (3.15).

Last year’s Winter Hill Stakes DESERT ENCOUNTER victor has shown his form when the mud is flying and can land the Listed Gallagher Group August Stakes (2.40).

Newmarket’s Listed Close Brothers Hopeful Stakes (2.05) SUMMERGHAND,a is right for tough and hardy sprinter who has earned a step out of handicaps after winning Goodwood’s Stewards’ Cup.
