IT should be a case of ‘Oh yes’ at Goodwood this afternoon.

OH THIS IS US (2.25) shoulders top weight in the 7f handicap but that shouldn’t stop Richard Hannon’s runner.

He does most of his racing in Listed contests but he has won three of his last six starts when dropped into a handicap.

The ground was probably a bit quick for him when he finished behind stablemate Magical Wish, who takes him on again, at Doncaster a couple of weeks ago. He’s 4lbs better off today and the soft ground will suit him much better than Magical Wish.

There’s also a stack of pace in this race and that will help set it up for Oh This Is Us. He has a courseand-distance win to his name and he likes turning tracks like Goodwood.

The 9-1 on offer looks good value so have 2pts to win.

ORIN SWIFT (4.10) is worth chancing in Goodwood’s staying handicap.

He’s got a good record on soft ground as he showed when runner-up behind useful Nuits St Georges over 2m at Goodwood last season.

That came off the back of a Nottingham win over today’s 1m6f trip and a good second behind smart hurdler Agrapart at Ascot.

We need to forgive Jonny Portman’s hope for a poor display on his first run of the season but he’s since had a two-month break so it might well pay to be forgiving.

Have 1pt each-way at 14-1. SHABAABY

(2.05) is another horse who will have conditions in his favour.

The gelding (above) has been successful on all three occasions he has faced ground with soft in the description and that’s certainly going to be the case at Newmarket today.

His latest effort at Newbury was a little disappointing but it was his second run following a long break. Horses can often put in a below-par performance in those circumstances.

With his trainer Owen Burrows firing in the winners, have 1pt each-way at 17-2.
