Hate preacher sues US over tooth decay

HOOK-HANDED hate preacher Abu Hamza is suing US authorities over claims he is held in “degrading” prison conditions that are destroying his teeth.

The former imam of Finsbury Park was previously jailed in the UK for inciting violence and was eventually extradited to New York after an eight-year legal battle.

He was jailed for life in 2015 for terrorism offences, and sent to the notorious ADX Florence prison in Colorado, which is also known as the “Alcatraz of the Rockies”.

It is where two alleged members of the so-called Isis “Beatles” kidnap gang could be sent if they are found guilty.

COMPLAINTS Hate preacher Abu Hamza iam Barr, Hamza claims he has to tear open food packages with rotting teeth after the removal of his hooks or any other prostheses for his missing hands and forearms.

The 62-year-old is also blind in one eye after an explosion while he worked for the Pakistani army.

He also claims that he has been deprived of sunlight in his isolated cell and is suffering from “stress and anxiety” after being denied family visits since 2012.

In protest at his treatment, Hamza says he went on a hunger strike for at least 10 days. His lawsuit states:

j“Plaintiff (Hamza) lost three teeth just to the opening of pouches. All front teeth are worn out and painful. Some nerves can be seen.”

It also complains of “cruel and unusual conditions”.

Barr and co-defendants including the head of the US prison service said courts should dismiss the lawsuit.
