BORIS Johnson is being pressed from all sides to drop controversial plans to rip up parts of his Brexit deal relating to Northern Ireland.

Labour blasted the Prime Minister for “reopening old wounds” with the Internal Market Bill, which overrides parts of the Withdrawal Agreement.

Ireland’s Foreign Minister Simon Coveney said the UK was damaging its reputation.

And Justice Secretary Robert Buckland hinted he could quit if he saw “the law broken in a way I find unacceptable”. He said the UK had to act as the Brexit deal “conflicted” with domestic law. But he stopped short of repeating the admission by Cabinet colleague Brandon Lewis that the new plans “break international law”.

Ex-PMs Tony Blair and Sir John Major urged Parliament to reject the Bill, writing in a joint attack it was “shaming” the Government and “embarrassing” the UK. And Commons Justice Committee chair Sir Bob Neill is leading a Tory revolt to give a veto. Rachel Reeves said Labour cannot back the bill as it is and will consider whether to support Sir Bob. Meanwhile, Brexit negotiator David Frost and the EU’s Michel Barnier rowed on food imports. Mr Barnier denied the EU was refusing to list us as a third country. But Lord Frost said we were told Brussels would block deliveries to Northern Ireland. Mr Coveney shot back: “There is no blockade proposed. That is the kind of inflammatory language coming from No10 which is spin and not the truth.”

BORIS Johnson is fast running out of friends as he strains to ditch a Brexit divorce law that he made.

Criticism is even growing from Tories who wanted out of the European Union.

The Prime Minister is playing a dangerous game, jeopardising peace in Northern Ireland and broadcasting to the entire world that he’s an untrustworthy leader.

Unprincipled and chronically incapable of telling the truth, he is haemorrhaging credibility with many of his own supporters.

Believing his own distorted propaganda, Johnson is an egotist heading for a heavy fall.

The real concern is he will take a weakened Britain down with him.
