Cops need test results & CCTV review before decision over McGregor indecency claims

CONOR McGregor must wait for the results of “key physical tests” and examinatio­n of possible film evidence before learning whether he will be quizzed again by police.

Local TV reports quoted oted a friend of a woman who claimed the 32- year- old Irishman had “exhibited his private parts to [ her] without her consent” as s she made her way into the toilets at a bar. The friend said the unnamed woman, on holiday with her husband, had been “deeply sh shocked”. McGregor, believ believed to have been with his bo bodyguards, was earlier said to have been on a heavy drinking session. He denies the allegation­s a and has been bee released without charge while inquiries conti continue. A source close to the investigat­ion said: “Key physical tests were carried out on the suspect. They are routine but take time, to make sure there is no doubt.

“It is also possible the incident being complained of was filmed. It was a busy place, with fixed cameras everywhere.

“Lots of holidaymak­ers would also have been filming and taking pictures on phones and they need to be spoken to.”

Mixed martial arts star McGregor has won both featherwei­ght and lightweigh­t Ultimate Fighting Championsh­ip titles.

He had been staying on his £3million yacht in the port of Calvi with fiancee Dee Devlin and their two children ahead of a charity waterbike race. After officers arrived at the port on Friday, he cycled to the police station for questionin­g.

The incident is alleged to have taken place in the town the previous weekend.

A spokesman for the local prosecutor said: “The suspect was placed in custody. He was released on Saturday.”

Emmanuelle Ramon, McGregor’s lawyer, said his client “vigorously denies any wrongdoing”, adding that police had released him “without judicial review”.

McGregor now has pulled out of the 180km race from Calvi to Monaco.
