She had been due to return to the States to be a judge on a series of America’s Got Talent Champions later this year. While there, she was planning to explore other opportunities too. She says: “I had got a visa for three years. The plan was to go back out, take some meetings and be out there for a while. That is a setback but I am constantly in conversations with different things.

“I pray we can hop on a plane to LA soon and pick up from where I left off. There are so many opportunities that I would like to absorb.”

But the philosophical star says she has used the time freed up by her American disappointment to work on other interesting projects. Among them is signing up to be a “celebrity scout” in the UK’s first ever

Candy Crush Saga All Stars tournament, which launches today. Members of the public will compete against each other to be crowned the nation’s best crusher in October.

Alesha will join other stars including Laura Whitmore and Mark Wright, to act as a celebrity scout and set candy collection challenges for the public to undertake.

She adds: “The Candy Crush app is massive. The game is lots of fun and it’s light relief for everyone too.

“I have become more of a fan of gaming since my daughter got into gaming. Azura loves computer games and she is so smart, she ignited that in me. I tend to play Candy Crush when I am getting ready and so it is nice to be involved in the tournament.”

She is also planning another children’s book, new music material and is in talks to launch a wellness brand.

what she believes in, Alesha says she is determined not to let any negativity grind her down. She says: “You have to be very strong, thick-skinned, and focus on your intentions.”

And vowing to continue to bring glamour to BGT, she adds: “We have so much fun with the outfits. It’s the one time we can really go for it, be a little bit daring, experimental and risky in our fashion choices.

“Fashion is expression and I like to express myself through the clothing.

“It creates a vibe, energy and it makes you feel good. It’s all part and parcel of the job. I love it!”
