‘Duped’ Katie is facing probe for giving her tragic dog cannabis oil
Pooch died after she unwittingly gave illegal drop
KATIE Price has told of her horror at learning she could face a probe for illegally giving CBD oil to her daughter’s puppy before it died.
Bulldog Rolo fell asleep under an electric chair after having the nonpsychoactive cannabis derivative – and suffocated after a nanny sat on it.
Katie’s vet said the oil could have made the pup seek out a quiet place to kip, which was out of character.
And the star did not know giving dogs CBD oil without a veterinary prescription is an offence under the The Veterinary Medicines Regulations 2013. Offenders can be fined and face a maximum jail term of two years.
Katie feels she was “duped” because she says that the oil was in a “puppy hamper” when she picked the pooch up for daughter Princess, 13, in July.
She now wants to raise awareness to spare others their pain.
Katie said: “This simply can never ever happen again.”
A source close to her added: “As awful as it sounds, this will bring some comfort to Katie in understanding why Rolo crawled into the space.
BACKLASH
“She feels let down too by a system that allows CBD oil to be marketed for pets despite it being illegal. Katie had backlash, hate mail, death threats and trolling over Rolo’s tragic passing. “As a family, they continue mourn.”
A spokeswoman for Katie said: “Katie was told the oil was for dogs and safe. It was endorsed by the breeder. Katie will join forces with Peta and any other groups that need her to speak out.”
The dog breeders said last night: “I’ve spoken to vets and we had no idea it was breaking the law. “There is no THC in so it can’t get drowsy from it.
“One thing we did say to Katie was we only recommended a dot. Now I don’t know what has gone on, we don’t know how much she has given it.
“But we know she is not very good with animals and doesn’t follow advice the right way, otherwise the dog would still be alive. It should only have been very small doses.”
