Royal anger over pair’s US election pleas
THE Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s intervention in the US election was a “violation” of their deal with the Queen, it is claimed.
Last week Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appeared in a video from their £11.4million California mansion to plead with Americans to “reject hate speech, misinformation, and online negativity”.
They pleaded with voters to cast their ballot on November 3 in a move taken by millions as a direct swipe at Donald Trump.
It could further risk their links to the monarchy after Buckingham Palace distanced itself from the couple’s comments.
Members of the Royal Family are supposed to be politically neutral.
Harry, 36, acknowledged such during the video, in which he said he had never voted in a UK election due to that fact.

But under the Sandringham accord – thrashed out in March when they announced they wanted to turn their back on the UK and move abroad – the couple vowed that “everything they do will uphold the values of Her Majesty”.
“The feeling is it’s a violation of the agreement,” a source reportedly said.
“The [royal] family are thinking, ‘ Where is this going and does this abide by the deal to uphold the values of the Queen?’”
The arrangement the Sussexes have with the Royal Family, including the rental of Frogmore Cottage, is to be reviewed in six months by The Queen, the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Cambridge.
Violations of the Sussexes’ deal could see Harry’s chances of resuming his connections to the Royal Marines under threat.
The Sussexes roles as president and vicepresident of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust is expected to come under review, and conversations last week reportedly even included whether Meghan, 39, would be stripped of her HRH title. It is understood Harry would keep his title as even Edward VIII remained HRH after he abdicated.
