POTTER: WE’RE GOING IN BRIGHT DIRECTION
GRAHAM POTTER is still in the early stages of his love affair with Brighton.
It is rare that you lose a game and still end up with so much positivity, but that is thanks to the very clear and obvious strides Potter is making at the Amex.
Brighton look a much better side this season already, they are playing attractive football, and have got a nice mix of youth and experience.
But Potter still thinks there is a long way to go before he will be happy in his latest relationship.
The Seagulls boss said: “It’s a process. I can’t explain it any other way. It’s not like I walk into a club, click my fingers, gers, and everything is brilliant. lliant.
“You have to try ry to work with people – understand and them, they understand you and, if you get results, then that relationship grows, ws, you get better. It’s like ke any good relationship. p.
“We had some good performances here last season
– beat Tottenham m
3-0, beat Everton n
3-2 – but we had some moments where we suffered. But they’re a great group, young players, and still establishing themselves at this level.
“But we’ve played well against Manchester United and Chelsea, played well in both games and came away with nothing, so there’s still plenty of work to do.” Brighton’s best player was Solly March, who scored the Seagulls’ late second, cleared off the line, and hit the woodwork. He is doing a super job as a left wing-back and Potter was full of praise for his displays. Potter (below) added: “Solly’s performance wa was one that I think everybody knows or understa understands was there. The challenge is to get it out of him more. mor That’s not necess necessarily his challenge alone alone, it’s up to all of us to help him.
“That’s why I was so pleased, not only with the equalising goal, but him scoring, hitting the post, co contributing to the fir first goal we scored. I fee feel for him that he’s got nothing to show for that performance.”
