SWANSEA boss Steve Cooper has told the club’s owners he needs backing in the transfer market to mount a promotion push.

Cooper is frustrated at the Swans’ lack of business and time is ticking if they are to sign the strikers he says his side desperately need.

He fears the straightforward victory at Wycombe papered over the cracks.

Andre Ayew and makeshift strikepartner Jamal Lowe got the goals to kill the contest by the midway point in the first half – but they have yet to replace Liverpool Brewster.

Cooper warned: “If we end up doing nothing in the transfer market then we will have to get on with it.

“But I have to make it clear, if we are serious about what we want to do this season then some things do need to happen.

“We also can’t afford to lose anybody with the numbers we’ve got.

“There’s been no progress on getting a striker in. OK, Andre and Jamal have scored and they will be a threat but we need an out-and-out number nine.” Cooper will be wary of prying eyes catching sight of the excellent Ayew.

The Ghana captain has been linked with French powerhouses Paris Saint-Germain and he pounced 13 minutes in, tucking home Jake Bidwell’s well- measured centre. loanee

Ayew, 30, then set up Lowe who opened his account for the club from close range.

Swansea knew no mistakes and it was job done but Wycombe shaded the second half, even though Wolves’ loanee Morgan Gibbs-White should have added some gloss late on.

Wycombe boss Ainsworth refused to be downbeat despite a third defeat from three matches.

He said: “In the first few games I want to work the Championship out.

“We’re still learning about this league, but this was much, much better from us. Second-half is what you will see more of from this team – we are getting closer.

“Once we get things right, then I’m sure we will get the results to keep us in the league.”
