‘JED IS A HEAD BOY FOR LIONS JUST LIKE TIM’

- BY STEVE JUDGE

JED WALLACE revealed that his team-mates compared his first headed goal for Millwall to a “prime Timmy Cahill”.

There is no doubt the Aussie Den legend would have been proud of Wallace’s fourth-minute opener. The winger sprung backwards at the near post to direct the ball home from Mason Bennett’s cross.

But when it comes to prowess in the air, Cahill definitely wins out, as Wallace said it had taken him 172 games to nod one in.

Wallace explained: “I think

I have played 300 games in my career and scored three headers.

“It was my first for Millwall. I have played 170-odd games for this club now, so it’s not a bad ratio. The lads in the dressing room said I was like a prime Timmy Cahill, but I don’t want to put words in their mouths.”

Brentford levelled through Ivan Toney’s first goal since arriving from Peterborough for £5million at the start of the month.

The striker slotted in from the penalty spot after being pushed by Shaun Hutchinson as he looked set to connect with Christian Norgaard’s cross.

Lions chief Gary Rowett claimed that Toney gave Brentford a new dimension following the sale of top scorer Ollie Watkins to Aston Villa.

He said: “One or two times we pressed and they were able to go longer to him and we did not deal with that as well as I’d like.”

Bees boss Thomas Frank is unsure about the future of Crystal Palace and Fulham target Said Benrahma. He said: “All of us, including Said, would like to have an answer – stay or go.”
