Jacks downs Spitfires to book Surrey Finals Day spot SURREY BEAT KENT BY 56 RUNS

WILL JACKS put Kent in a spin to take Surrey to their first T20 finals day in six years with a 56-run thrashing.

The 21-year-old is more famed for his explosive batting than his occasional off spin.

But Dan iel Bel l - Drummond, Zak Crawley, Joe Denly and Sam Billings fell to Jacks, who took 4-15 at the start of the innings.

If Kent were to stand any chance of overhauling Surrey’s 169- 2 they needed at least one of their fab four to fire, but instead they wilted in the October sunshine to reach a limp 113-7.

Jacks admitted: ted:

“We know how good that Kent top order is on paper. They are incredible players so I was delighted to get them.

“I didn’t expect to get any of them, let alone all four. But weird things can happen in T20 cricket and you can get on a roll.

“I’ve loved bowling this summer. I don’t feel like there is too much pressure on me because you’re almost expected to get hit bowling part-time spin.

“It’s the first time we’re going to finals day for a while, it will be my first time and I’m very excited for it .

Unfortunately there won’t be anyone there to watch, but if we can go and win, it will be amazing.”

With the weather going to be a huge concern over the weekend there is every chance it will be accurate bowling in a Sunday afternoon bowl-out that will determine the eventual winners.

But if Surrey do get on the field, then their opening duo of Hashim Amla and Jason Roy ( below) are in red-hot form to take advantage after scoring 73 not out and 56 respectively on a used pitch. With no third umpire able to view TV replays, Roy survived two run out appea l s which on another d day might have go gone against him. Th The second of these saw Bi l lings let his frustration get the better of him by hurling the ball down in anger.

It earned him a level one player conduct breach and a warning from the umpires over his behaviour.

“I’ve been done for a level one,” he admitted. “But it’s a quarter- final with two international batsmen going at 10 an over and as captain it’s a decision you feel has gone completely the other way.

“I think I reacted in a human way, I’m not saying it was right, but Jason Roy is a world-class batsman and a wicket we wanted to get.”
