Trump has only himself to blame

- FIONA PARKER

It was hardly a surprise that Donald Trump contracted Covid19. He and his aides were very lax about wearing masks and social distancing, so it was inevitable.

We in our town are now subjected to stricter rules and I’m flabbergasted by the public who, like Trump, are too arrogant or stupid to abide by the laws which are there for our own safety.

Perhaps finding out that someone as high profile as Trump has fallen foul of his own cavalier attitude towards the virus may make them think twice about their behaviour. But I doubt it.

Some even believe the pandemic is a conspiracy, but they probably think we didn’t land on the moon and the world is flat too!

There is a great deal of confusion about Donald Trump’s health following his Covid-19 diagnosis. His doctors tell a different story to his chief of staff and then we hear he has gone up in the polls and that he’s well enough to go for a ride around in his official car. Does he not care about making other people sick? To have been poorly enough for hospital, surely he would have known he was infected days ago, but he still went ahead with a rally and a fundraiser. This is unforgivable and he has put lives at risk. Mary Pester, Saltash Cornwall

It’s hard to tell fact from fiction where Trump is concerned, but one thing is for sure, he only has himself to blame for getting the virus. His arrogant attitude towards mask-wearing and social distancing has not only risked his own health but everyone around him too.

Surely, Americans can now see how much of a disaster this man is and that he is one of the main reasons why the country has fared so poorly during the Covid- 19 pandemic and vote accordingly on November 3?

Now Donald Trump is being treated for Covid-19, thankfully it is likely we will be spared the spectacle of more televised live presidential debates.

His infantile behaviour during the first one in Cleveland, Ohio showed him to be desperate and rattled. His constant interruptions and cheap insults at Joe Biden revealed he will descend to the gutter to hang on to power.

Heaven help us if he is allowed owed four more years in the he White House.

Following the US President’s diagnosis with Covid-19, it’s not very often you see the words Trump and positive in the same sentence! Having said that, I hope he and Melania make a full recovery and come out the other side with a greater understanding of this pandemic and the value of wearing masks and maintaining social distancing. Mask up and keep your distance, please! Dennis Fitzgerald, via email

So, the invincible Donald has contracted the coronavirus. Who would have thought that it would dare to invade the great Trump? Maybe he could try injecting some disinfectant into his body to get rid of it? Keith Bowman, Chesterfield, Derbys

Will the thousands of misguided people who believe Covid-19 is a conspiracy think again now that the sceptic-in-chief Donald Trump has found out that this virus is very real indeed? Tandy, Liverpool
