Trump U-turn chaos blamed on his steroids

HE’S BACK President Trump at the White House

DONALD Trump has been accused of suffering “roid rage” after returning to the White House despite still carrying the coronavirus.

He sparked panic in the stock markets by ordering Republicans to end talks with Democrats on an economic rescue package. But hours later he performed a U-turn, allowing certain parts of the relief plan to be discussed.

Some suggested the powerful steroids he is on to fight Covid have caused anger-fuelled flip-flopping.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a leading Democrat, said: “There are people who think steroids have an impact on your thinking. So, I don’t know.”

Docs have voiced fears the steroids the President has been prescribed have side-effects such as agitation, psychosis and feelings of invincibility. It has emerged Mr Trump, who returned to the White House from hospital on Monday, has not been tested every day for Covid as his officials claimed.

There was more confusion yesterday as adviser Larry Kudlow contradicted other aides by saying Mr Trump was back at his Oval Office desk on Tuesday.

Minutes later, White House chief of staff Mark Meadows said it was not true.

Meanwhile, an appeals court in New York has ruled Manhattan’s district attorney can enforce a subpoena for Mr Trump’s tax returns. The court rejected a bid by Mr Trump’s team to block the bid. The fight could now go to the Supreme Court.
