On last night’s telly

F★★★★ air play to accidental bigamist Tim for that optimistic tone on the morning of his proper wedding to Sally.

“Today’s gonna be just perfect – I promise you,” Tim said, as the couple enjoyed a romantic socially distanced chat on the cobbles.

Yeah right, Tim, I thought. There’s more chance of a marriage on Channel 4’s shamefully addictive Married At First Sight actually lasting than there is of a soap wedding day going smoothly.

Turned out I was wrong though. Partly because the current filming restrictions meant we didn’t see the wedding itself.

But mainly because Abi kept the one potential spanner in the works

locked up in Tim and Sal’s conservatory.

It was a delicious twist from the writers having part-time magician and full-time domestic abuser Geoff desperately trying to escape from a sealed glass box.

And viewers would have cheered even more loudly when

Tim finished his dad off once the ceremony had ended. “You’ve lost your entire family and you still think none of it is your fault,” Tim spat.

“I hope you enjoy living on your own for the rest

of your life.” It remains to be seen whether that permanent, self-inflicted isolation will be the extent of Geoff’s punishment for his treatment of Yasmeen.

The most important thing was that nothing was allowed to ruin Sal’s big day.

As Gail pointed out, all she had to worry about was looking beautiful and marrying the man of her dreams.

Ah well, Sal. One out of two ain’t bad.

No offence, Tim.
