COVID carrier Donald Trump has refused to take part in a virtual Presidential debate, fearing he’ll be “cut off”.

Yesterday’s TV head-to-head with rival Joe Biden was due to be held online over concerns about Trump’s infection – which he claimed is a “blessing from God”. He said falling ill with Covid-19, which has killed over 211,000 Americans, was good as he took an antibody cocktail still being tested.

“It wasn’t therapeutic, it just made me better

– I call that a cure,” said Trump, who appeared to struggle for breath and have skin darkened by make-up. He said all Americans should have “free” access to unapproved REGN- COV2, which he claimed he selected. “I feel great, perfect,” he boasted. It emerged Mr Trump knows the CEO of the firm that makes REGN-COV2 through his golf club in New York. Dr Leonard Schleifer’s firm, Regeneron, received £348million as part of Trump’s Operation Warp Speed plan to tackle Covid. Its shares surged yesterday. Trump’s decision to pull out of the debate came after a leaked memo revealed the White House outbreak is worse than was feared, with 34 staffers infected.

Trump, who kept interrupting his rival in the first debate, said: “I beat him easily. I’m not gonna waste my time in a virtual debate. You sit behind a computer. It’s ridiculous, then they cut you off whenever they want.”

Polls put Biden 16% ahead in the November 3 election race.

DONALD Trump is not just a liar, a braggart and a bully. He’s also a coward.

The US President has chickened out of the next TV debate with Joe Biden after the organisers insisted it be conducted virtually.

Given that Trump could still be infectious, it would have been irresponsible to have done otherwise. But the Toddler- in- Chief, who claims the format would let the moderator cut him off, has thrown his toys out of the pram.

Rather than defend his lamentable record he prefers to hurl insults and intimidate his opponents. Voters should press the mute button on him once and for all next month.
