Marjorie, 89, weeps with joy after singer’s video message
A CARE home resident aged 89 received a video message from Sir Cliff Richard – after she told staff it was her one wish to meet him.
Marjorie Smith cried and called the 79-year-old singer “gorgeous” after being shown the singer’s personal greeting.
Residents had been asked to place a wish on a special “tree”, which workers would then do their best to grant.
Marjorie wrote: “My wish is to see Cliff Richard... I love him!”
Her family and staff emailed the star’s manager but never imagined they would hear back.
The Congratulations singer told Marjorie in his message: “I hear you are not well, and I just wanted to send this message to tell you you are in my thoughts and you are in my prayers. Lots of love and God bless.”
David Eble, a worker at the Aura Care Living home in Stratton, near Cirencester, Glos, showed the video to Marjorie, who said: “It’s brought tears to my eyes.”
Linda Lloyd, CEO of Aura Care Living, said: “The wishing tree is a lovely tree, and thanks to Marjorie’s family, they have helped her dreams come true.
“This year has been challenging for care home residents and we are overwhelmed by the kindness shown by Sir Cliff.”
