FLIC’S SET TO CLICK

- Gives the lowdown on his runners at Chepstow

CHEPSTOW is a meeting I always like to target because for me it signals the start of the core jumps season.

THYME WHITE 2.10

He is a nice horse who did well last season on flat tracks, winning the Scottish Triumph Hurdle at Musselburgh, but he wasn’t suited by the undulations at Cheltenham in the Boodles Hurdle.

He is a much improved after his summer holiday and he looks the best handicapped of our fouryear-olds.

KILMINGTON ROSE

2.25

I expect her to run well today, but she will improve for the race.

McFABULOUS 3.15 (below)

Because of Covid, the rule was changed to allow novices who didn’t win before February 1 to remain novices until December 1. So, it is a golden gift for a horse of his class to be running in a Grade 2 event like this.

He’s on the fringe of being a World Hurdle horse.

FLIC OU VOYOU 3.50

We have tinkered with his wind. He looks the one they have to beat before he goes chasing.

OTHER RUNNERS

Bravemansgame (4.25) He want further than the two miles here but this is a good starting point. Present Man (4.55) He’ll run here then head to Wincanton again for the Badger Ales Trophy.

(5.25)

He’s had a wind op over the summer and he should make a smashing chaser.

Enrilo

CHAMPION Flat jockey Oisin Murphy’s positive test for cocaine is unlikely to prevent him from becoming this season’s leading jockey for the second time — if he can hold off William Buick.

The fate of Murphy’s career depends on a second test that he requested after the French authorities revealed he failed a drugs test at Chantilly on 19 July. But the outcome of that B sample is unlikely to be known until after the jockeys’ championship has been decided on November 7. Murphy (left), 10 winners ahead of Buick, could be handed a six-month ban if found guilty, but the 25-year-old is continuing to protest his innocence.
