TONIGHT’S THREE BIG BETFRED SUPER LEAGUE MATCHES

- PREVIEWS BY GARETH WALKER

Wakefield

WAKEFIELD will become the latest club to play with the bare minimum of players after more Covid-19 problems.

Trinity have had one positive test this week but have stood down a further eight players through test and trace. Chief executive Michael Carter says the club want to play on. He explained: “We’ve got 14 fit players, and three guys out of a group of about five who played rock, paper, scissors to see who’s the least injured.

“We’ll have 17 on the field and in the dugout but that’s all we’ve got and we’ll give it the best we can.”

HULL KR boss Tony Smith is relishing the prospect of playing in front of a crowd again.

Catalans can host up to 5,000 supporters in Perpignan while the rest of Super League remains behind closed doors – and Smith has no problem dealing with the partisan locals. He said: “It’ll be great – I don’t think it’ll put anybody off.

“Everybody is looking forward to having an atmosphere and that will add to the occasion. It’ll only be seen as a positive rather than a negative.”

Warrington v

ADRIAN Lam wants Wigan to focus on bouncing back from their Challenge Cup heartbreak – not the club’s Covid-19 issues.

Lam’s squad has had three positive tests this week but he is more concerned with returning to form against a Wolves side that also lost their semi-final last weekend.

Lam said: “I want to see a response from the players this week. It’s a massive game for both clubs – Warrington will want to respond as well. We will rally together and make sure that we play well.”
