From death’s door to taking on a gruelling £100k TV challenge
Covid survivor’s reality show bid
A BEAUTICIAN who filmed herself gasping for breath while fighting for her life with Covid-19 is celebrating her survival by competing to win £100,000 on a reality TV show.
When Tara Jane Langston, 39, contracted coronavirus in March she thought her days were numbered.
She said goodbye to her family and put out a video of her struggling for breath in intensive care which was widely viewed.
Now, the mum of two says she’s determined to grab life with both hands.
Tara, from Hillingdon, West London, has signed up to Channel 4’s reality series, The Bridge.
The series follows 12 people who are stranded in the remote Welsh countryside where bosses have left the life-changing haul of money on an island in the middle of a lake.
The team has 20 days to build a bridge with their bare hands in order to reach the money but in a final twist only one of them will walk away with it.
On her decision to join the show, Tara says: “I went through hell and survived so when an opportunity like this comes round, I grab it with both hands.” Tara talked with husband, Richard, 34, about The Bridge: “I said to my husband, ‘I don’t know why these things are coming my way, but I just need to embrace it’.
“He said, ‘ Yeah, we all thought you were going to die, you didn’t so you just need to embrace life and take every opportunity that comes your way’.
“There was a moment when I thought I wasn’t going to make it,” she admits. “I thought I wasn’t going to see my daughters grow up or get married. It was incredibly scary.
“I’m one of the lucky ones. I’ve been in a situation where I almost saw the end and I have another chance.”
The Bridge starts on Channel 4 tomorrow at 9pm.
