CHALLINOR UP FOR THE CHALLENGE

- BY IAN WINROW

HARTLEPOOL boss Dave Challinor has demanded improvements – despite seeing his side top the National League.

A thumping 4-0 win at MAIDENHEAD, secured with goals from Claudio Ofosu, Ryan Johnson, Gavan Holohan and a Danilo Orsi-Dadomo own goal, maintained their 100 per cent start.

Challinor (above) said: “In our first three games we’ve played a sub-par half and a good half of football.

“It shouldn’t take me to slate them to get a reaction but we’re obviously pleased it did. It’s better to learn from winning a game than learn from losing so we’ll take it and the players will absolutely learn from it.”

CHESTERFIELD boss John Pemberton was relieved to see his side get their first points on the board with a 4-0 defeat of WOKING.

He said: “I looked at the table the other day and I know we had only played one game but we were fourth from bottom and I just don’t want to be there.

“I am sick of seeing us there and the players feel the same.”

NOTTS COUNTY beat BARNET 4-2 and boss Neal Ardley believes the Magpies are quickly putting last season’s play-off final defeat behind them.

The manager said: “You need everyone fighting for their spots, everyone respecting each other and how good they are. And if we carry on with that we will do all right this season.”

Kwame Thomas’s first league goal for WREXHAM wrapped up a 1-0 victory at YEOVIL, who are still looking for a first win.

The striker said: “It’s a great feeling. I have been speaking to the gaffer about working hard for the team but it was nice to get my own reward today.

“Hopefully there are plenty more to come.”
