GREAT British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain longs to add to her brood of three children but without having a bun in the oven.

The TV chef believes an adopted child would blend in perfectly with her family.

The mum- of- three, 35, says she and her husband of 15 years Abdal are always open to the idea of adoption.

She tells a Netmums podcast: “It’s something we’re always thinking about.

“As our kids get older, we’d love to be in a position to hopefully give somebody else a home. Because we have the space for it, in our heart and our home.

“It’s something that’s on our radar all the time. Once we’re emotionally in the right place, I think we will do it.”

The 2015 Bake Off champion said she had been considering adoption because of friends’ experiences of the process and a documentary by Sir David Attenborough about the global impact of population growth.

Nadiya and Abdal, also 35, have five and six siblings respect ive ly .

Their own children are sons Musa, 14, and Dawud, 13, and daughter, Maryam, 10. Nadiya, who endured three long labours during their births, admits to feeling “guilt” at having such a large family of her own.

“We’ve got so much love to give, and we’ve got space in our home for more children. I just watched David Attenborough’s documentary. And there was this thing about population.” She added “I thought should I feel guilty that I have got three kids?” The couple also have friends who have adopted which has inspired serious conversations about starting the process. “It’s such a selfless thing to do,” she says of her friends. “There are children out there,” she says. “I think as we’ve seen other people do it we’ve definitely thought about it more.”

Nadiya, who now hosts Nadiya Bakes on BBC 2, says seeing her children grow up has been overwhelming. She cried when Maryam, reached 10. And she praises her children for doing their own ironing. Eldest son Musa started when he was six. Listen to Nadiya’s episode of Sweat, Snot & Tears on Tuesday at netmums. com/podcast.
