Bargain for you, boost for them

- BY NIGEL THOMPSON

In the internet age it’s possible to book pretty much any getaway you want. But mistakes can be made and sometimes you need the human touch.

Britain’s high street travel agents are the nation’s holiday experts – they can help you to avoid booking an unsuitable trip, assist you in planning a complicated break, or simply save you money. All with a friendly smile and a cuppa thrown in.

The pandemic has made 2020 a nightmare for the UK holiday industry and high street travel agents have been hit hard. But they are dusting themselves down ready to make 2021 a bumper year.

Now the British public are being encouraged turn their armchair travel dreams into reality by taking advantage of a host of discounts and special offers in a new Holiday To Help Out campaign.

The message is “Don’t just dream, book” a 2021 trip with your local travel agent – getting great advice, a great deal and at the same time breathing life into the Covid-battered sector.

Holiday To Help Out bonuses will be released during the week of November 2-8 in conjunction with the Travel Trade Gazette.

Offers will be showcased in shop windows, on social media, in newsletters and more, and leading firms supporting the initiative range from Virgin Voyages and easyJet Holidays to Intrepid and Riviera Travel.

Agents’ expertise can be tapped into where shops are open (with Corona-19 safety measures in place) or via Zoom calls, email and over the phone.

Travel Trade Gazette editor Sophie Griffiths said: “Inspired by the Chancellor’s Eat Out To Help Out scheme, we hope the Holiday To Help Out initiative will create similar excitement about travel and prompt customers to go and talk to their local travel agent about booking the holiday of their dreams.”
