NUNO: MY LUCKY JIM

- BY DAVE ARMITAGE

WOLVES boss Nuno Espirito Santo says Raul Jimenez is just out of this world.

Nuno is the envy of many a top boss in having the 29-year-old forward as the first name on his team sheet.

Jimenez’s goalscoring exploits for both Wolves and Mexico are extraordinary according to his club boss.

He has a habit of scoring crucial goals – after grabbing Mexico’s winner in the 1-0 victory over Holland, he then sank Leeds with the only goal of the game (below).

Jimenez has hit 33 goals in the Premier League for Wolves – 11 more than nearest rival Steven Fletcher when he was at Molineux.

Add to all that the fact that the striker rarely gets injured despite being kicked from pillar to post and it adds up to one dangerous opponent.

Steve Bruce, a mean defender in his

Manchester United days, will not need telling what Newcastle are up against tomorrow.

Nuno said: “He’s amazing. He is so, so good. A player with so much talent. Are we lucky to have him? Yes, but he’s also lucky to have

Wolves because his teammates help him so much.”

Nuno admits to closely monitoring the striker’s heavy schedule for club and country, and said: “He’s been able to sustain a level of fitness by the way he looks after himself. We’re not worried about him. Because of the way he keeps his fitness levels, it means he can give everything he has.”

But the Wolves boss hopes referees can look after his star man as well. He said: “He deals with it very well.

“Incidents happen during games but the referees are there to judge.”
